The Lord’s Supper - The Lord's Supper is a holy meal of bread and wine that symbolizes the body and blood of Christ.  By sharing this meal, United Methodists give thanks to Jesus' sacrifice for our sins.  The Lord's Supper recalls the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and celebrates the unity of all the members of God's family. (See Mark 14:22-24) United Methodists, because of our tradition of abstinence from alcohol, use grape juice rather than wine in communion.  We celebrate communion by intinction (bread dipped into a cup), by passing individual cups and bread, and by allowing persons to kneel at a communion rail.

Communion is served every week during our 11:00a worship, and on the first Sunday of every month during our 8:15a and 9:30 Worship. CROSSROADS is an "open table" church and does not require that persons be members or of a particular age or denomination. Children in our K-4th grade Kids Own Worship are offered Communion each first Sunday of the month, and are encouraged to learn the meaning of the Lord's Supper through experiencing it. We use the terms "Jesus heals us (takes away all of our hurts)" to represent the bread. For the juice, we say "Jesus forgives our sins (the things we do that are wrong)." Parents of preschoolers who want to take communion together are encouraged to gather their kids from the preschool room and bring them into the Great Room for Communion. We are a grace filled group of believers who recognize that the blessings of the sacraments of communion are not something that can be earned, and welome all who profess belief in Jesus to take part in this practice.
