“I am the resurrection and the life.  Those who believe in me, even tough they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.”  - John 11:25

Death is something we all must face sometime. As followers of Jesus Christ we believe that through him death has been defeated and the promise of eternal life is assured.  As sad as death is, we  take comfort in knowing that death is not the end.

  When Death Occurs

When a death occurs, it is essential that the church be contacted as soon as possible.  This will help ensure that pastoral care and comfort are provided to the grieving family, as well as assist the family in making funeral arrangements.

 Funeral Arrangements

The pastor will work with the family and funeral home to implement the necessary arrangements for a funeral service and burial of the deceased.  The funeral service and burial are primarily intended to help the family and friends begin their grief process in a healthy way.  The funeral service and burial provides an opportunity for friends to offer mutual sharing of sorrow and support through the grief process.

 Preparing for Death

It is never too soon to make preparations for one’s death.  Preparing for one’s death and making the necessary arrangements beforehand is really a responsible act of faith, and a gift of love and mercy to your loved ones and family.  We encourage persons to have written wills prepared ahead of time, burial plots chosen, funeral arrangements made, and any organ donations settled ahead of time.

1) The family should contact the church immediately when there is a loss in the family.

2)  The family should schedule the funeral with the Pastor and the office.

            - Funerals for members of CROSSROADS CHURCH and their families may take priority over previously scheduled CROSSROADS events.

-For funerals for those not connected to CROSSROADS CHURCH we will work to find a time that is convenient for both the church and the family.  Guest officiants should speak with CROSSROADS’ Sr. Pastor before scheduling the service.

-The funeral will then be put on the calendar and the Facility Director will be contacted to schedule the space for heating and cooling.

3)  The Funeral Director, the Pastor, the Worship Director and the family may want to work together in planning the funeral service.

            - Any music selections other than a hymn or worship song must be pre-approved by either the Pastor or Worship Director.

4)  If you wish to leave a plant or floral arrangement for the church, please notify the church office at 952-469-PRAY.  Deliveries can be received during regular office hours: 9am – 3pm Monday through Thursday.

5)  If a program for the funeral service is desired, please notify the church office to make arrangements.  Please submit all information (names, eulogy, musicians, scripture and song selections, etc.) at least two days before the funeral during office hours.

6)  If desired, a funeral reception may be held at the church.  Please contact the church office and Facility Director to work out the details and check availability.
